First, thank you very much for sending me the 4.5 mask. I had the opportunity to use it last weekend on a wreck dive in Lake Michigan. When I first entered the water my first thought was WOW! I have never seen the Lake water this clear before. Then I realized that it was not the water, but rather it was the superior optical quality, minimal peripheral distortion, and extra peripheral view that created this sensation of increased visibility. The double purge valves worked well -- very important in a mask with higher volume. The nasal area allowed pinching my nose for equalization even while I was wearing very thick dry suit gloves. The construction of the entire mask, strap, and even carrying case was impressive, and drew jealous comments from my fellow divers.
